4/2/08 Well, it’s already April and I’m patiently (or not really) waiting for Spring! We have made a lot of progress on our place out here in western Oklahoma but still have a lot to do to get the yard complete. So, while we will get a much needed rain this week, I’m ready for the temperatures to go up just a bit so we can work outside. Also, if the wind decides to stop blowing, that would be fine!
Rodeo season for the kids starts really hopping this weekend. I think there is a rodeo for one or the other through July. I guess we wouldn’t know what to do if we didn’t have a TON to do. They grow up so fast so we are trying to soak in every minute.
Pray this find you all happy and blessed in Jesus. Our friend Greg Scandrett has been writing some incredible stuff on the Kingdom of God on his blog. Check it out here!
3/7/08 Happy 15th birthday to our oldest, Aaron! I can’t believe that he is 15 years old. That has to mean that I am getting older, too. He really is a good boy and we are very blessed.
Well, we got through basketball and now baseball and rodeo are in full swing. Aaron and Lacey have both high school and jr. high school rodeos on Sat. Aaron has about 4 baseball games a week also. No rest for the weary.
We will be heading to AZ over spring break to finish up things with our house there.
Know of someone who who desires to have a rodeo career or just be prepared to minister where ever they are? Well, Trinity Fellowship, PBRO, Forever Cowboys & Convergence Ministry School are coming together to do a ministry school in Sayer, OK called The Spiritual Life and Rodeo Mentorship School. There will be 4 tracks offered: 1)Bull Riding, 2) Girl’s events (breakaway, goat tying, barrel racing), 3)Worship leadership, 4)General ministry/mentorship. This is a perfect opportunity for those who are about to embark on a rodeo career or who desire to attend a ministry school. Cody believes with his whole heart that if he would have been offered this opportunity before he started his professional rodeo career, he would have been solid in the Lord and not floundered for the first 5 or so years of his career. For more information, e-mail info@convergenceschool.com or visit the Convergence School web page.
2/18/08 Cody talked with Amanda Newberry this morning and there are several praise reports! First, the arterial tear has healed itself so no surgery will be required for that. Secondly, all of his organs are working properly so there are no residual affects from the blood loss. While the injury was never life-threatening, God intervened in a big way and Jody and Amanda give all praise to him. Hopefully he will be released today and then will consult with Dr. Tandy Freeman to determine what the next step will be.
2/16/08 Please be in prayer for Jody Newberry who tore his groin last night. Cody spoke with Amanda this morning and I guess it was an arterial tear and they are very concerned about him. They are trying to get the bleeding stopped without having to do surgery, so please pray for the Lord to intervene. Thanks for your faithfulness.
I’d like to direct you to a blog written by a friend of ours Greg Scandrett. He always has good stuff to say but this one is a HOME RUN! Find it here.
1/29/08 I put the wrong time for the Hour of Power on tomorrow morning. It is actually at 9:00 am CST. Sorry about that.
1/28/08 Wow, didn’t realize it had been a month since I had posted an update. I am really sorry about that. We are burning the candle at both ends here in western Oklahoma. All 3 kids are playing basketball so we have 5-6 games a week. Aaron and Lacey are both doing really well and are huge assets to their teams. Our children have made wonderful friends at school and we are so thankful that they all have been accepted with open arms.
Cody and I are just keeping busy with kids and ministry stuff. Cody is no longer working for the PBR and probably won’t be judging much this year either. God has put him back in a position to be able to actively minister to the bull riders again since he isn’t judging anymore and that is really where his heart is. So, while you won’t see him “pushing a pencil” anymore, you will see him at events doing PBRO ministry. I am trying to keep up with the kids as well as helping out at the church and have started helping with the administrative duties of Forever Cowboys (Allen Bach’s ministry). My plate keeps getting fuller but God keeps expanding it so I guess it’s what I’m supposed to be doing.
I can honestly say that we are happy where we are at. It was a real struggle to for me to be obedient to God in this move but now that we are settled and just living life here, I am so at peace that we are right where Jesus wants us. God continues to do amazing things at and through our church and the family He has placed in it. We are surrounded by amazing people that love us and have the same desires as us, to be used of God!
Cody and I will be on the radio again on Wed. Jan. 30 at 9:00 am CST on the Hour of Power. You can click the link to get you where you can listen to it.
